A steady hand on the wheel

Why free decks still bar under-19s

Social casino games share the appearance, sounds and tempo of real gambling. Paddlewheel River is for adults above the legal gambling age only and is not aimed at anyone under 19. Age is checked on two occasions: on the banner that greets you, and once more as a tick required when you open your account.

Waters the steamer never enters

• Offering real-money gambling or advertising it.
• Putting up prizes of real-world value.
• Selling coins, or bringing in in-app purchases.
• Linking to gambling operators or affiliates of any kind.
• Using countdowns or streaks to press you into coming back.

Captain Thaddeus speaks plainly

A free game may be set to feel openhanded, and it refills your purse at no charge. Real-money games do neither. Doing well on these decks reveals nothing about how you would fare with money at stake.

Signs a passenger should heed

• Staying at the reels long past the time you intended.
• Growing irritable when you leave off.
• Spinning to steer clear of a bad mood.
• It is costing you sleep, work or time with people.
• You notice yourself seeking a version that plays for real money.

Keeping your own course

• Fix your playing time before you begin.
• Keep autoplay turned off for the whole voyage.
• Go ashore for a break, and do it often.
• Clear this site’s data to set everything back to zero, or block the site in your device settings if you wish to stop for good.
